Ahmadi Carpets always deals in original hand-knotted rugs made with natural colors and the finest qualities!
Many rugs are made of silk / wool blends such as Tabriz or Nain rugs. As with all rugs the quality of these rugs varies from tribe to tribe and from country to country, Ahmadi Carpets will only deal in high quality rugs. These rugs use silk for its vibrant shine, to enhance the vibrant colors and ornate patterns throughout the rug.

The quality and value of the rugs is determined by the material from which it is made, lambs wool, sheep wool, etc., the tribe that made the rug, and the number of knots per centimeter squared (approx 1 1/8” square.)
The age of the rug is also a factor in valuating the rug. People will often return “old” rugs to a store for 2 – 3 new rugs. An aged rug becomes more supple, and the value of the rug is increased.
The tribe and design are large factors in whether the rug increases in value. Age is a valued factor when it comes to purchasing hand knotted rugs. An example of the knots per centimeter versus the quality of the rug is shown in our chart. This chart is only a basic guide; there are numerous factors that determine the value of a rug. A good rule of thumb however, is “the more knots per cm square (kpc) the higher the quality.”
Ahmadi Carpets has been dealing in quality hand-knotted rugs and textiles for over 90 years. We deal in many types: new, old, and antique rugs and textiles from Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Kashmir, and many other areas.
