High-Quailty Textiles used in Ahmadi Carpets

Ahmadi Carpets are designed for vibrant colors and ornate patterns!

Silk is a common textile used for weaving rugs through southeast Asia and China for the past 3,000 years. Silk rugs are the most ornate, colorful, intricate and beautifully created rugs in the world; however they are also the most expensive. They are created from all natural silk fibers (including their foundation layers).

Ahmadi Carpets has a large selection of Kashmir silk, as well as Iranian Silk rugs available to our customers.

Silk rugs have a natural tendency to vary in color depending on the direction in which they are viewed. There is a luminescent side and a flat side to the fibers; so when viewed from one angle the colors of the rug are more vibrant than from another and vice versa.

Lamb wool comes from sheep no older than 1 ½ years old. The wool is rare because most sheep herders wait until the sheep is more mature before shearing the wool. Lamb wool when used in a carpet is softer, shinier, and more durable than sheep wool.

Sheep wool is the most common wool used in hand made rugs, is durable, will become more vibrant with use and over time.

Kork wool is the rarest of all the wools used in hand made carpets. Kork wool is obtained by taking 7kg of sheep wool and pulling 1kg of the finest wool. This wool is extremely soft, but is not as shiny as lamb wool. Kork is used mainly in picture rugs, and very detailed carpets, due to the workability and texture of the wool.

Rugs are made from wool, silk, or a combination of both. As with all rugs the quality of these rugs varies from tribe to tribe and from country to country, our pledge to you is that Ahmadi Carpets will only deal in high quality rugs. These rugs use silk for its vibrant shine, to enhance the vibrant colors and ornate patterns throughout the rug.
